I Feel Sick in New York City

Four score and seven years ago our fathers brought forth on this continent, a new nation, conceived in Liberty, and dedicated to the proposition that all men are created equal.
Now we are engaged in a great civil war, testing whether that nation, or any nation so conceived and so dedicated, can long endure. We are met on a great battlefield of that war. We have come to dedicate a portion of that field, as a final resting-place for those who here gave their lives that that nation might live. It is altogether fitting and proper that we should do this.
But, in a larger sense, we can not dedicate -- we can not consecrate -- we can not hallow -- this ground. The brave men, living and dead, who struggled here, have consecrated it, far above our poor power to add or detract.
While I am on the subject of hallowed ground being consecrated by the brave I want to point out that someone got the wise idea to put a mosque up near ground zero. I’m not from New York City or even the East Coast, but I can imagine there are some pretty deep feelings running around about desecrating the ground near the World Trade Center. I want to remain objective so rather than insert my own vituperative opinion I would rather just quote from encyclopedia articles so that we can all objectively know what we are up against.
In the Koran. While stoning is permitted by Islamic Sharia Law in the Sunni and Shi'a sects, the Koran does not mention the practice as a punishment for any crime. According to Islamic scholar Al-Bahuty, a verse on stoning once existed in the Koran, but it was verbally abrogated by Mohammed and his first followers. Al-Bahuty claims however the verse's ruling is still binding.
Nevertheless, much of the public was outraged that such a backward and tortuous ritual became instituted in the laws of their country. In 2002, Iran's judiciary indicated that stoning will no longer be practiced in Iran. However, following the election of Ahmadinejad, there were reports of judges handing down stoning sentences in 2006 and 2007, and 2010. Finally, in 2008, Iran's judiciary decided to scrap the punishment of stoning in draft legislation submitted to parliament for approval.
Sakineh Mohammadi Ashtiani, born 1967) is an Iranian woman who is on death row in Iran for the crime of adultery, and was originally to be executed by stoning. She was first tried on May 15, 2006 by a court in Tabriz, pleading guilty to the crime of "illicit relationship" with two men, though the incident occurred after the death of her husband. She was sentenced to whipping of 99 lashes, which was carried out. The case created an international outcry when Sakineh Mohammadi Ashtiani initially was sentenced to death by stoning. Iran withdrew that part of the sentence earlier this month, but the mother of two could still face execution by hanging. They weren’t happy just whipping the shit out of her, their culture calls for twice holding a person in jeopardy. The stoning law is under moratorium but remains on the books.
As if that misogynistic little tidbit isn’t enough to turn your stomach, let me go to my online encyclopedia for some more about the culture that wants to set up shop on our most hallowed ground.
Interviewer: So you think all women should be circumcised to protect their honor.
Female villager: The Prophet said that the men go and wage Jihad for a year. He said that girls should be circumcised so they can bear it for a whole year until the men return.
The Prophet said that circumcision is obligatory for men, and is noble for women. This means that for the sake of her honor, a woman can be circumcised.
“A man brought his to me, and I told him she must be circumcised immediately.” Why? Because he discovered that her clitoris was so big that it was bound to cause her pain or bother her when she reached puberty, and therefore, she had to be circumcised. He told me that other girls came to him, and he said they should not be circumcised. Why? Because their clitoris was normal in size, and did not bother them. It would be crazy to deal with such a clitoris, which does not protrude to an extent that might bother the woman, when it rubs against her clothing and so on…
Now don’t go getting mad at me, I didn’t write this stuff. I just copied and pasted for your own review so that you can get an idea of what type of culture wants to come here and desecrate America’s memory of our fallen. All the while that we talk about liberating Iraq while we don’t do a blessed thing for women’s rights in Afghanistan just goes to show the disingenuous nature of the conflict. Michael Bloomberg (R) the Mayor of New York went so far as to be an apologist and says that it is contrary to our principles not to tolerate something that is the antithesis of what we stand for. I think Michael Bloomberg (R) needs to go looking for a new job. The whole Republican Party has rationalized themselves into a corner and don’t know what they stand for other than to suck off big business.
I would like to hear from someone in New York City so you can tell me just how you feel personally about what is planned near ground zero. I am making the title of this post, I Feel Sick in New York City, in the hopes of soliciting a comment from there. I won’t stay on the sidelines and encourage all to do a search under ground petition. Here is a copy of what you should find there.
Say NO to a Mosque at Ground Zero! Stop Radical Islam from creating a beachhead in New York, and stabbing the heart of 9/11 Survivors. Rudy Guiliani says, "This is an Imam who has supported radical causes, who has not been forthright in condemning Islamic (terrorism) and the worst instincts that that brings about."
To Mayor Bloomberg
 We urge you to stop plans to construct a Mosque and Islamic center 600 feet from Ground Zero.
 A neighborhood mosque to accommodate a local community would not have caused a stir. But this mammoth plan raises questions that have not been answered:
 Who is donating the multimillion dollar project and why?
 Is this project part of the well documented campaign to place mosques as signs of Islam's dominance?
 Claims that this is dedicated to promoting tolerance have been severely undercut by the Imam's refusal to condemn terrorist organizations.
 Mayor Bloomberg, you owe the people of New York and the United States a full investigation of these and other related issues before you permit this project to proceed. A hearing by a community board is not an adequate review.
 When cloistered nuns tried to establish a convent at Auschwitz the world called it inappropriate and the religious community abandoned the site.
 The sponsors and supporters of this project have shown an intolerant attitude to any criticism.
 We believe it is imperative that this project not become reality

The harem keeping peoples of the world must fry!

"Die" sounded too harsh.

I just thought we could mess with the thermostats on their hot tubs or something.

this will probably happen because we are all so damn PC we won't say no way.

i say, separation of church and state. there is no need for a national monument to be secular in any way. end of issue

You cannot conceive the many without the one.
