Christmas Carols

I'm getting all excited for Christmas this year.

Yeah, yeah, I know... "But DSK... you don't celebrate Christmas." Except I still kinda do. I believe, beyond the religious, it's also a cultural thing.

I received 4 packages in the mail today (OK: no idea when they showed up, I picked them up today) and was so anxious to open them I dragged them with me into the Indian restaurant for lunch. The friend I was with laughed at me. 3 were a variety of hand-crafted and bought items from craft-swap partners. And one was a book I won online - but it's about a Calico named KeeKee that travels to Greece. And it's AUTOGRAPHED.

Cats. World Travel. Autographed book. Three wins (I collect autographed books. Kinda)

One of the packages also contained cat-nip toys for Sassy. When I got home she snooped in the bag as usual and immediately found the nip and tried tearing the bag apart to get to it.

The friend I was with laughed at me getting so excited over packages in the mail. On the bright side: He was depressed. Sometimes even a moment of laughter is enough to help pulling somebody out.

What are some of your favorite Christmas Carols?

I just discovered today that I really love Sting singing "I saw three ships come sailing in". Seriously? Bagpipes... accent... fun bouncy song...

"We Three Kings" is also one of my favorites. It seems there is a different name for that carol but I'm not searching for it.

I can't stand christmas carols or songs at all.
Mel, a great song is "It Came Upon a Midnight Clear' by Sam Phillips. I really think you'd like it. But if you don't...lie to me. I'll feel bad if you don't enjoy her singing.

Christmas moved past the religious and into the cultural stage years ago for me... and don't tell me that there is somebody out there that doesn't like getting presents. I can't put my finger on any particular carol that I would call my favorite but some of them do put me in the holiday mood.

For my family it's mostly a "Family Get Together Day" + food a bit more substantial than non-holiday family get together days. And decorations.

I am glad that even though you may celebrate Christmas for religious reasons that you are able to get into the holiday for the cultural aspects of it.

Regardless of the reasons for celebrating the holiday, I love it, especially for the gift giving and the joy that it brings to my friends and family.

I miss gift giving

I adopted 2 foster kids for Christmas gifts this year. A 4 year old and a 15 year old. Though I don't get to see the excitement of them opening gifts.

My family decided to stop exchanging gifts and my ex was unemployed and broke so much that if I got any of the above gifts I get hit with "ohhh!! I feel so terrible, I didn't get you anything" and makes me feel bad.

Was your book autographed by the author, or by Keekee? Because if the latter, that would be a book worth owning...

aww, man!! I gotta complain.... lol

Though I used to have a cat named Ki-Ki (KeeKee). Technically it was my roommate's cat and she named her Satin. But when I first met the cat, I looked at her a few moments... then whispered "Ki-Ki!"

The cat preferred men, hated women. Except for me... she LOVED me. My room is the only one she never peed in. She hung out there often. She would hide all day but be sitting in front of the door every time I came home from work.

Sadly I came home from work one day and Ki-Ki was gone. My roommate found an elderly woman that wanted a companion animal to take her. Because my roommate was so NOT a cat person. She does keep trying, mostly because she has a soft spot for unwanted animals.
