Friends (?) Networks

I've often wondered about why other members, to whom I send emails including invitations to join my Friends Network, accept these invitations. Isn't a friend supposed to be someone who enjoys your company and, therefore, enjoys getting together with you from time to time? Well, of the 44 members listed in my Friends Network, only nine have ever sent replies to my emails to them, and over half of those live over a thousand miles away. I have never heard anything from the remaining 35 members. I can only conclude that these 35 members who have never replied accepted my invitation to join my Friends Network because they liked my picture and/or so that they could add my picture to their Friends Network, thereby increasing the number of their friends; this seems to me to be completely dishonest, unkind, rather rude, and actually unfriendly.
