If you've got it..........Use it!
If you've got it..........Use it! SPELL CHECK It absolutely astounds me as to the number of profiles I've read and emails I've received with numerous misspelled words. Profiles can be read, re-read and corrected before posting. Emails are a little more understandable and forgivable...there are times we all hit "send" before proofing. But, I have to wonder if someone is so lax in their spelling skills, what other skills don't they take the time to perform well? |

So what do you think? Do I email him back and comment on his profile? He may still be waiting for a response to his lunch invite. He wanted to meet to see if we'd hit it off. He obviously hadn't read my blog If you've got itUse it Maybe I should send him a copy.

Remember when something like this was making the rounds in the world of mass communication. if n u cn rd ths y shid i lrn to rd nd rit wel. If you look at the abundance of abbreviations and mass media advertising permutations of words it is amazing what some people will let slide and how some schools let so much lack of learning go and pass the students on. Still as the saying goes, you never get a second chance to make a first impression. Yet hopefully a typo will not keep a perfectionist from finding an acceptable path to a personable passionate lover who can be schooled in written, verbal and non-verbal techniques.

I like the response about being too much of a perfectionist. Sometimes it's fun to intentionally misspell and sometimes it changes the meaning too much & gets confusing. I guess I would interact enough with someone to find out if they're just having fun or if they're truly challenged. If you take time to make sure it's perfectly spelled then should you consider fonts and size and color and smilies and... From the Friendly Fingers of Formanyhugs

I have to comment on this blog! Thanks for bringing this subject up. As others have already said here, a person's profile is what gives the reader their first impression of that individual. I've always considered myself a perfect speller it comes easily to me. I can usually spell anything, and unless it's a typo the word is spelled correctly. When I read a profile or receive an email that is so badly written I immediately form an opinion that I would not find myself compatible with that person. However prejudiced this may sound, my thought is that, I almost hate to put this in writing, but that our education levels differ too much and conversation would be awkward, incompatible or non-existant. On the flipside though, I have overlooked some minor errors, because some folks can't type and sometimes very intelligent people can't spell. Now for the one who said he's a writer(goodlookin..), don't hold it against me if I didn't write this comment correctly. I wasn't an English Major in college I only claim to spell perfectly! LOL.

Back in my previous career, I would receive resumes with spelling errors. Also, would see candidates for marketing communications jobs with grammatical errors in their resumes. That being said, who would want a lover afraid to make mistakes?

The bad part about spell check is that it won't catch when someone misuses words like to, too, and two, or there and their. Grammar check is required for that. What's even worse about the way some people write is when they use numbers for words, or deliberately misspell words such as "dat" and "wuz". I read a profile of a very attractive woman recently, and I lost all interest when I saw how it was written. I've seen ten year-olds write with more skill than many members on here. Of course, I'm a writer, so I'm going to be overly critical about the way others write because I am just as critical with my own work. My belief is that it's easy to improve at anything just by taking pride in the way you do it. GLC
