Ghosting - Is it a new dating trend?
When a man or woman completely stops talking to someone they met online, texted with, has gone on a date or dates with, slept with This is done in hopes that the ghostee will just “get the hint” and leave the ghoster alone, as opposed to the ghoster simply telling them they are no longer interested. Many feel ghosting is a way to cease dating the ghostee without hurting feelings.

Would this even be an issue if when someone hasn't heard from a person they think they care about, they take the initiative and just go for it.... give a call...text...email.. use whatever is the preferred means of communication. (I think making this move is especially an issue for some women).

 I have had it done to me more than I have done it. Usually the communication just kind of ebbs until one party or the other stops.

 Well maybe I have not been the ghost. I told my ex that is was over as all he wanted me for was sex. I did love him very much but I am more than a sex toy. After I told him unless he was willing to change I turned into a ghost. He texted me several times stating that he did not see why we could not just fuck. I never returned those test messages.

 As to your subject question, I don't believe ghosting is a new dating trend.

When people used to communicate primarily by phone and answering machine (remember those?), they'd simply stop picking up to end things. And, of course, no return call. The technology has changed but the practice has been around a while.

 You didn't make an option for some of us that have been both. The last guy I had bad sex with, I never called/texted him again. I was happy he didn't either. Somethings are better left unsaid.

For me it seems to be mutual ghosting...or at least I think it's mutual.
