Hi Tres, Yes it is a business and making money is the primary purpose of businesses. However . . . since I've been here the quality of the services has diminished. On the blogs alone there are a number of "glitches" that are relatively simple fixes. On the other hand the IM "issues" people whine about are likely user errors. If the quality were better they might be doing better business wise. But since the IM change happened I have noticed (on a local search and a big city search) that there are less women (gold and free) coming on and they seem to not be on as long. If they chase the women (a.k.a. the bait for men) they are not going to last. When the going gets weird, the weird turn pro. The only thing we have to fear is fear itself.

The goal is often to offer enough for free to hold the interest of people long enough to that they become paying members. If you fail to do that then often people just leave and move somewhere that does take that approach. Its just like apps on the app store. If you ask $25 for an app then I am probably not going to risk it. If you offer me a free trial and I gain benefit from the app then i see the value in paying the $25.
