 I'm probably one of the very few men who will admit he wears strings/thongs and enjoys it.
I started wearing them when I used to run a lot (80-90 miles a week), back 25-30 years ago. Jockstraps felt very uncomfortable and were limiting my liberty of movement. That's why I tried wearing a string. It takes about a couple of days getting used to them but once you are, it feels like you're wearing nothing but still your clock work is staying in place and not tolling.
I just love them now and won't wear anything else except when I go skiing.
