Tuesday, October 3rd... Today a new student was added to my list of tutors for the tutoring program, and of course the two boys were teasingly vying for her attention and one was trying to set the other one up again...Oh to be young and naive again..SMILE......on the ride back from work and talking to Jim, he told me about his father being a double amputee and about the time he pulled out in front of a semi and then blamed the semi for his actions......I told him about my brother has a youth always wanting to have the truck drivers toot their horns.....and we also laughed about how playing football when he was a youth was an exercise in futility because they never went were the play was..they were kinda of like that electronic football game where they all congregated in the middle..Talk about some bad games, we also talked about Pong, one of the original silly games, and Ms. Pac man...Stopped briefly by the arts council but Beautina was busy..I did manage to borrow a lottery ticket for $3 so I could get some munchies and a drink.....Saw Jim and he said his health was allright...That's good....Took a nap and then the afternoon I called Pops..he is doing better and I told him about the Tutoring program and how it came about because of the meeting of minds between Hank and some teacher types who work for him.....Also told him about Shelly's dilemma...I had talked to her earlier and she was going for three interviews possibly in L.A. and despite just getting out there already thinking about returning.....Hopefully she will find the work she needs......Told her if she came back I would try and hook her up with Dilsey and the Spanish Soap Opera people..Speaking of Dilsey, spoke on messenger on the phone briefly to Richard and to Chynarose37.....during the evening went to work at Hayti..NA and Jack and Jill were there.....Love it when Jack and Jill is meeting..They provide good meals and snacks.....told the one Jack and Jill lady that at next meeting I would let her know how Sam is doing and that I knew there were efforts to keep the club going after she said she would miss it.....NA had a new cutie Karen and of course the regular one who does day care work....Dwight said folks didn't want them to get off the stage and that Polly really enjoyed the show...He is right..have to find a way to get them a show at Hayti..we have an intern at Hayti now......helping with programming...so they borrowed that from the pages of DAC...SMILE....when I got there the intern and Ngoma were the only ones there....Ngoma is pessimistic about the show coming for three days..I am working it tomorrow..Hope they didn't waste all that money and have some sort of audience......Ran into gentleman I used to see all the time and he was talking about forming a discussion group..told him about ABCD list which right now is discussing the branding issue a lot.....and he said a lot of folks didn't know about the Tanzanian visit..I had heard about it...don't know who the African Resource Center is...Speaking of running into folks as I was heading into Hayti I saw Coach and the janitor guy and some of their pals coming from McDougald Terrace or ABC store area....probably the latter.....he asked about work at MI..said I was tutoring but that was a select few..From what I hear, from James and others, no real work til February and at that time they will work with our schedule with the ...Oh well off to bed...Tomorrow should be a fun day of activities and meetings...maybe I will stumble across a Ms. Right..shucks a MS. Right Now..SMILE.......oh while I am thinking about it I also talked to Beautina about the runin between Ladd and Sherry...she is really alienating a lot of the community..Oh well time to get some sleep........ |
