The Healing Power of Comfort Food
The Healing Power of Comfort Food Well, it has been an interesting weekend. Yesterday, may as well have been called stressed out Saturday. H and I made plans to go shopping to get the groceries we need for Thanksgiving. Yes, I obligated myself to host this year. My parents are driving in from Oklahoma Thursday morning and my who is attending KSU, will be staying with me from Tuesday-Friday. My grandkids (yes, I have 3 of them) will be joining us on Thursday. My aunt, uncle and cousin may also be dropping in on me on Friday. From my previous post, you now know that I am an introvert. Just the thought of all of this family togetherness is freaking me out! Well, among other things, H and I were on different pages about what time we were going shopping and this further caused my stress to escalate. I admit, I had an adult version of a meltdown. Poor H! He was able to get me to calm down and we discussed that family coming was just a smokescreen for deeper stressors. Making a list and conquering the shopping helped to regain a sense of control over some of it. Carbs helped too. Lots of carbs. Embarassing amounts of carbs, in fact. (Particulary the shrimp arrabbiata sauce with linguine I made for dinner and authentic Italian bread we picked up at the store.) Interestingly enough, the dish's name--arrabbiata--comes from the Italian word for "angry" because of the spicy tomato and red pepper sauce. After dinner we went to the movie theater and saw Mockingjay. It was pretty good. I won't give away any spoilers in case you plan on seeing it but so worth it if you are a Hunger Games Fan. This morning H woke me up with a sensual oral orgasm. Who in their right mind would be stressed after that! We enjoyed a breakfast of pumpkin and blueberry waffles with bacon before H had to leave for work. Another thing I have been really missing lately are my outdoor runs. This morning, it was 52 degrees and misting rain but I decided to go for an outdoor run and I am glad I did. Outdoor runs are an untimate stress reliever and always leave me feeling very zen. (Besides sex!) Glad I went early because the temperature rapidly dropped and the wind has kicked up. Now, I am sitting here enjoying the smell of the chicken tortilla soup I have simmering in the crockpot. I cheated and had to sample some. Last minute add-on: mini pumpkin bread loaves with bacon glazed strusel topping. It's what's for breakfast! Because a girl's gotta have protein! No, seriously, this is exclusively for H because he was such a good boy this morning. Yes, it's been one of those comfort food weekends. Sometimes we just need a little comfort food you know? And of course sex, too.. (The site keeps making my photos disappear so I am hoping they show up for you) How was your weekend? What are some of your favorite comfort foods? |

You’re a GILF at 43? Ohh, you KS girls!! I got lots of chores done this weekend, finally. Swam my laps, and signed up for hot yoga starting in Jan (fun, but a misleadingly named class.) Go the last of the mulch down, just before the winds and cooler temps hit today. My weekend was okay. I drove to Chicago to visit a friend in the hospital. She admitted herself to get some help. I hope she gets it. I'm not sure if she'll be there long enough to though. You'd have fun with her I think. And I got to see another friend and his family. Fortunately I have made a couple of kind of long drives, so the trip to Chicago was cake!
