Interesting day!

So today was an interesting day....

Had to go out of town for a doctor's appt. I live here in OKC....and had to drive to a hospital in another town here in the state. Who knows why, that is just where I was referred!

Any way... Mini me and I took off for our little jaunt across the state.... Ok, so it was only 88 miles from our little apt to the hospital. We left our place around 7a and made the first stop at the local Sonic (had to have some major caffeine for the drive).

So driving along some of the back roads to the hospital. I love these kind of drives....the scenery, the quietness, the signs!!!!! Ok I love signs. Maybe because I have a dirty mind, but some of the signs are hilarious! Like the sign that was advertising "Angus Bulls for sale.....AND Replacement Females"! Ok....I know what they meant, but just thought the "Replacement Females" was funny!!!

I am known for my ability to get lost. I do it quite well, thank you! (Do not even think of saying a word!!! ). And today was no different. I even map-quested my road trip today...to try to prevent any misdirections. Of course did I get lost..... A little. But not too bad. Just missed an exit. So we drove a little farther down the road and tried to turn around.....You did notice I said tried? Just as I turned onto a street to go around the block, a choo choo train came by. Of course there are some guys (workers) hanging off the end of one of the cars....what does mini me decide to do? Wave at them! She has a habit of waving at guys...usually they are on motorcycles, police cars, firetrucks etc. Anywhoo.... we get turned around and back on the highway to make the correct exit.

Make our way to the hospital, get parked (mini me laughed about the hospital having "ELDER PARKING"....a good place to park your elderly while you take care of business )and head inside. Now I am a nervous wreck but hiding it pretty well. (I did have a cutie text me on the drive to tell me they were thinking about me, which made me feel better) Find the women's clinic and check in. They tell me to go into one of two rooms to register....which ever isn't busy. Ok....so I go into the second door....sit down and wait....and wait....and wait....and wait. Nobody ever comes. So I leave that room and go back out to the waiting area to wait to go into the other room....then someone goes into the room I was just in!!!! Dagnabbit@@#!!! lol

Anyway....get registered. Fill out the paperwork. They make copies of all my cards, etc. Back out to the waiting room to wait to be called back. Didn't take long (my appt was at 10:00a and was called back at 10:06a) The nurse weighs me, then we go into the room to do my vitals. So she is questioning me while taking my bp/pulse....suddenly she looks up and startles the crap out of... UNCROSS YOUR LEGS!!!! Holy crap lady...almost made me pee myself!! I was sitting in the chair with my ankles crossed under the chair, how was I to know that was a no-no?

So that was over and done with (bp was good thank you very much!) and we are led to a room to wait for the doctor. I see the ominous table with the pretty paper gown (what happened to the fabric?) and the pretty paper sheet (again with the damn paper products). Really, REALLY looking forward to doing that! NOT! Also praying that the doctor is a woman or a really ugly guy.

So while waiting for doctor I notice a poster on the wall. Exam rooms always have medical posters, and this one was no different. BUT I have never seen this poster before!!!

STOP

"TIME OUT"

CHECKLIST!!!

[]RIGHT PATIENT?
[]RIGHT PROCEDURE?
[]RIGHT SIDE?

Okay is it just me or is that a little unnerving? Right procedure? Holy crap! OOPS...didn't mean to stick that up there Mr. Jones... thought you were Mrs. Jones!

So doctor comes in (older man), we talk. He reassures me. Tells me that he isn't as worried as my clinic was about what is going on. He then tells me that he wants to do some more tests next month and then see me again to go over tests. Definitely felt better than when I got there....and DIDN'T HAVE TO GET NEKKID!

So heading back to the city....and low and behold....missed the damn exit! So had to go back and do it all over again.....stop laughing!

Made it back to the city and stopped in my old hometown near the local Air Force base to have lunch, something mini me and I don't get to do that often. Of course she is ogling the soldiers....not that I blame her. We also decide to stop and put flowers on my mom and great grandmas graves...and some pinwheels, since we were in the area.

By the time I got home I was hurting and exhausted. So took some meds and took a nap.

Like I said....it was an interesting day!
