School is almost here!

Just two more weeks until school starts!

As much fun as it is to have all of the girls home all summer long it's going to be nice to have a few moments of peace during the week as well. You know the old saying about how familiarity breeds contempt, well the two oldest seem about ready to strangle each other these days which of course me wanting to lay the smack down on their candy asses. Why can't we all just get along.
So I've decided that for a last big Hoorah of Summer, before they have to wake up early every day and go to bed early, I'm going to take them to either Santa's Village or Story Land 'cause both of these places have rides for both the big un's and the lil un's. I haven't told them yet because I want to surprise them. Also I don't want it to turn into a debate over which one we should go to.
My three year old begins preschool, but in three weeks not two like the older ones. She is so excited that she wakes up every day asking if it's a school day yet. I've been using the idea of school for her in kind of a selfish way. She's been by far the hardest to potty train so far. The other girls were in panties with no accidents by this age for awhile because they wanted to be "big girls". This one on the other hand is torn between wanting to be a big girl and wanting to be a baby. It's been a bit frustrating, but I know she'll get it down pat soon.
So a couple of days a week it'll be just me and the wee one for a couple of hours. Should be some good bonding time and give me time to do some stuff without the circus in tow. Should make it a little easier to arrange for some day dates too. Much easier to find a sitter for one or two as opposed to the crew.
One sucky thing about back to school though is the shopping.
I think I'm going to enlist their dad in this one. Won't that be fun? But I do what I have to and well, as they say, this too shall pass.
So everybody else getting excited about the return of organized education?

Cant wait. Just put a down payment on a 1980 white conversion van, the puppies are finally weened, and I have enough bags of candy for pretty much the whole school year. Did I put the fear of god in anyone yet??

Hi Peeks

Hehe I can see where the midget wrangler part of your profile comes from now

I don't have any kids myself: well, not that I know of

Anyway, there's an office supply store up here in Canada called Staples that have started playing their back to school commercials and while I tend not to pay too much attention to tv ads, their's is kinda funny. They use that Christmas song "It's the most wonderful time of the year" while a very happy dad is seen dragging a couch with two very disgruntled looking children on it through the store.

Many apologies if I've just bored everyone with my story. I may be wrong and you do have Staples stores in the States and would have seen the commercial.

Anyway, I miss being in school. Never would have thought that when I was just out of high school but there we are. Life just seemed so much more simple then. Do you miss having to go to school?

Hello and welcome! We do have Staples down here in the states, and I have seen that commercial. It's pretty funny. I don't miss school so much as I miss the friendships I had while there. I moved on my 18th birthday and graduated a couple of weeks later. I moved back to my hometown when I was 21 but most of the good friends I had have moved far away. My life wasn't so simple in those days. But there were a few classes I loved and perhaps when my minions are older I will continue my education. Thanks for commenting!
