Worth

It always amazes me to see how much some people will pay for certain things, and how much certain things are appraised for. Antiques, cars, houses, jewelry, art, ect. The prices for such things changes often and the worth is set by many things including the demand. How the appraisal of something is made I have never been able to really figure out. I mean sure, if something is well taken care of and pleasing to the eye, rare, it is harder to come by and therefor people will be willing to pay more for the item. But, sometimes, nothing has changed about something, there are comparable items aplenty, yet the price fluctuates just the same. Sometimes I look at something with a high price tag and I wonder who would pay such a price, and how did they come up with such a ridiculously high number?
I got to thinking about this in terms of people. How much am I worth? Who gets to decide? What factors would be taken into consideration? History, shape, damage done, beauty in the eyes of the beholder, assets, wit, charm, intelligence, talents, faults, vices, baggage? I have no doubt that to some I am worthless. And yet to others I have great value. I may even be priceless. Should I set my worth by what others may think? Or do I set my own price and hope that someone will think I am worth it?
There is a market for everything and therefor everyone. Set the price too high, sitting on a shelf gathering dust could be one's fate. Set the price too low, anyone can window shop, touch, handle, use, look over, set down, return and consider it too cheap to keep. Not many want common. Most everyone is looking for their idea of special and rare.
Of course looking for a person isn't like shopping for anything else. The person you decide on has to decide on you too. You may find a rare and special person that you would love to have, but if they don't want to have you as well, it doesn't really matter how much you would pay.
By payment I don't mean cash, I mean compromise, and earning a place with that special one, as they earn their place and compromise with you. Sacrifice sometimes, and perhaps even not getting everything you want, but getting everything you really need. Hopefully what you give up, you're compensated in turn by happiness and satisfaction. The love you pay out returned by love given.
Sometimes someone you might pass over first glance is someone that could really be wonderful, like a hidden treasure at a yard sale. It takes time and effort and concentration to see what is right in front of us sometimes. Perhaps someone isn't what you expect once you get to know them. I've noticed that the more I know someone the better I can see them. Someone I might not have thought I'd ever have feelings for can suddenly appear as if by magic inside of someone I'd previously dismissed as an option. Other times, I've seen a bright shiny package and been instantly attracted, but the more time spent, the more knowlege shared, the less shiny they looked. Sometimes the most attractive people to me have not been what some would ever even look twice at. I have seen glimpses of their hearts and soul's though, and see true beauty and worth. And sometimes those shiny packages that I was origionally attracted to contained nothing but rot and decay underneath that bright exterior.
Am I an avid shopper? Not at all. I'm still working on shining myself up. But I do have my eyes open and am not afraid to check out the merchandise carefully. The one's shopping and trying to test drive me have been interesting for sure, and time will only tell if there is someone willing to pay the price I'm setting for myself, that I want to pay the price for as well.
Happy shopping all of you that still are, and do tell, what is your price and how much are you willing to pay?

Don't forget about advertising. The correct ad campaign can make all the difference. Apparently my price is frustration and dissappointment, which most people can't afford. And as far as how much I'm willing to pay, I've already sold my soul, there is nothing left to give, but since we're gonna have to make an offer anyways, I'll go with 3 easy installments of $19.95 but I want the free gift for ordering now.

what i look for is a bit of happiness and loving i wouldn't want to put a price on those,
And if i can't find or i have to pay a price to find them then i will be single for ever, because these things are priceless.

Everyone is made of the same organic matter as everything else. There are over 5 billion humans on the planet. In a market dictated by supply and demand we'd be pretty worthless. lol

Seriously though, I like the idea that I'm worth less than I think but more than what everyone else thinks, but that's still probably my ego talking.

Oooh, good point, advertising...I'm gonna have a think on this one...
You know I think you're a treasure waiting to be polished up and taken home, I bet someone else will figure it out eventually too.

Interesting. I like to think that I'm worth more than most would guess first glance, and worth more than I think as well, but then again I do tend to tear myself down a bit from time to time...just not out loud.

I used to worry and ponder over things like that. Now, I don't do it so much. These days I like to just meander around. If I bump into someone of a like mind to myself then I will explore that possibility. If not, then so be it and I will continue my meanderings. Overall, I see life as a journey with no preconceived or set destination. But wherever I go, I'll enjoy the ride.

That's a good philosophy.
