Friendzoned Online

A few times (maybe five) on dating sites and even on this site, guys email me just to tell me how interesting I am but not their type. I mean, even if you are Miss Universe, you still would not please everyone. Don't worry, I'm not comparing myself to that kind. But really, I don't know what to think of someone telling me this. I guess it is a little amusing. For example, I received on Okcupid recently:

I like you. not in a dating way, but in a "I think you are a really cool person" way. I was also thinking, wow why would she put her number on here? Then I read it in my head and I liked you even more.

I do think you wear too much black, but regardless... I just wanted to say kudos to you for having an awesome profile.

Em, thanks bro?

So if you have read this, have you ever received this kind of email before? I mean it is normal to be friendzoned in real life, because you make friends with both genders. But to be friendzoned on the internet, right away is weird.

There are also guys who are profound ASSHOLES!! I get told, "You would be very attractive if you were thin." Often, this comes from below average looking guys who have no chance at ever being attractive, not without cosmetic surgery anyway. I guess this is a valid point, but I would never give back-handed compliments like this to anyone.

What bothers me about this is the same guys who tell me this say they wouldn't mind having sex with me. Also, "You should be my girlfriend." REALLY?!!! I hate it when people find someone attractive but they don't want to be open about it because it would embarrass them. They don't want other people to know because they would frown upon liking someone who society does not call attractive. I'm sure there are a lot more guys who love fat women but would never admit it. They don't want others to judge.

I'M NARCISSISTIC! BLAH BLAH BLAH BLAH!! YOU DIDN'T READ THIS!

I love a woman with an ample body especially if ample breasts are part of the package!

Sometimes, you find somebody who is doing something awesome, so you want to compliment them on it. I had that happen once when someone who had misdialed left a message on my answering machine just because she found my recorded message to be so funny. If people compliment you on having a cool profile, just accept it as a compliment and nothing more.

People who judge someone based purely on weight are superficial. Yes, we all want some physical attraction, and there are upper and lower limits on what turns us on, but that range should be wide open. Physical attraction will only open the door. It's the person inside and the mental stimulation that will make a relationship happen.
