The worst thing about this blurring is that they obviously haven't informed the gold members that they're wasting their time sending messages. Still receiving some from gold members that haven't figured it out.

Isn't that WORSE than the actual change, not informing the paying members?

 Yeah the site isn't great believers in keeping their members - be they paying or non-paying - up-to-date on site changes.
