A Car By Any Other Name

Some friends of mine have been giving me grief about a habit I have. When I talk about my vehicles I don't call them by their brand. If I'm talking about my car, I don't say "Oh, I'm in the (Lamborghini, Ferrari, Audi, Chev)." I say that I'm in the car today.

Alternatively, if I'm driving my suv, I will say "I'm driving the truck today." I won't ever name drop the brand.

A few of my friends the other night were giving me a hard time because to them, I should be using their brand names. Perhaps it's because I'm ok with where I am in life and don't need to brand drop - but I see no need for it.

Am I wrong for my way of thinking? Or are they just douches for wanting to brand drop?
Use the Brand Name - You Earned it Afterall
Don't be a Douche - it's Just a Fucking Vehicle

Your friends have a problem

When the going gets weird, the weird turn pro.

The only thing we have to fear is fear itself.

To me, when people name drop, it's a sign of a person's insecurity. Good for you that you choose to rise above the pettiness.

I just say "the car" too. That's the important thing. You're not sitting on your sofa or standing in the grocery store. You're in your car.

Though I also give mine names. My old (late) Oldsmobile was "Mister" and my current Oldsmobile is "Lady Greybird". Or just 'Greybird". I have, on rare occasion, told people "Mister and I are on a road trip" hahaha.

I only have one vehicle so I don't have to differentiate between vehicles.

I was in my car....

We 'name' our vehicles. Betsy. Pete. Sophie.

Maybe some people need to brag on what kind of car they drive to make them feel like they are better. who knows but when i say i am driving in my car that is all they need to know, Unless your driving to meet with someone

what about in a 2-car household with equal ownership where both are driven by both members? this is not a question about semantics....it is a question aimed at people with nice cars......reverse snobbism!!!!

Only insecure people will try to tell the world what they are driving in my humble opinion.
