Busride to nowhere
Busride to nowhere I'm in a bus, bound for the capital. I have to pick my father's MRI scan results from Accident House. He had surgery for cancer last year and ended up mute. It was a difficult time and I thought he'd die but then he has a stubborn constitution. When he came back after 3 months abroad he was gaunt and pale. But he ate well and he gained some strength. Then, when he was strong enough we went to Bookpoint on Moi Avenue, but it was closed. And they wouldn't have the books he needed anyway. Then we went to African Boot Company where he stubbornly bargained for shoes (using hand signs). He finally did settle for a nice pair of Hush Puppies. Then we went to City Market the air dense with smells of various meats. He bought fish there then we headed home. He was so tired the next day he spent all day in bed. |

Thank you for the concern. He normally carries a notebook where he writes down what he needs. He likes reading economic books mostly about development in Africa or that sort of thing. Since he went on retire, he's suffering from boredom which is just as dangerous as cancer.
