Married to a memory
Married to a memory Happiness is a choice. I know reality can bushwhack you. But you get to decide how to live. If you want to live in the past with a memory, you can. I choose not to do so. I run into people who glorify some old flame. Well, that flame is burnt out. Yes I know that is so unsentimental. Reliving the glory days is fine for history buffs and Halls of Fame. I prefer to live in the present and seek a future. If you prefer the past, enjoy yourself. Real relationship with a living breathing partner beats an imaginary future based on a memory... for me. |

i have a friend who keeps everything from this one person in a trunk. it's a bit scary actually. she's been married for eons but is still pining for this lost love. You cannot conceive the many without the one.

Recently visited Museum of Broken Relationships in LA. Check it out (they have a website) If you don't take it all too seriously, it is somewhat amusing. As for not moving on from memories... I am not one to let my past stop me from enjoying the now or the future, but when you had a really good experience, even if it was just for a short while, it sets a high bar for any others. Sure there was a reason a relationship ended, but when there were certain aspect that made you very happy, you tend to look for those things again with someone else.
