 Taught my sons to be that way too. Nothing worse than to find / clean up pee all over the toilet seat and or toilet and floor. May not be the norm generally but it sure is in our home and I'm the one that established this rule, not my wife. Comes from year's of cleaning up behind my great grandfather who couldn't hit the broad side of a barn.

 I voted for public only. Standing is best when done at a urinal where the target is only a few inches in front of you. Trying to pee into a toilet leaves too many opportunities for error, and no guy anywhere is as accurate as he thinks he is.
