Move over, Judge Judy!

Meet Judge Patricia Lynch QC.

I read this story in the last few weeks on another site, and thought it was worth sharing. I found it on "Legal Cheek" and have copied and pasted for your reading pleasure.

"A top judge left a courtroom stunned yesterday, after calling a defendant a “c**t” during sentencing.

Judge Patricia Lynch QC made her shocking comment while sentencing 50-year-old John Hennigan for breaching his anti-social behaviour order.

This is the charming Mr. Hennigan who thought nothing of saying to the victim - who was with her two young aged eight and six - "I don't agree with inter-racial relationships. I like natural." She was shocked and surprised and asked what he meant. He said: "I prefer white ."

Mid way through Lynch’s sentencing remarks, Hennigan — who has 23 convictions to his name — told her she was “a bit of a c**t”.

Without missing a beat, Lynch, who became a circuit judge 2014, responded: "You are a bit of a c*** yourself. Being offensive to me doesn’t help."

Hennigan then responded: "Go f*** yourself."

Remaining cool, calm and collected, Lynch, who is a former member of London’s Red Lion Chambers, retorted: "You too."

According to the Mirror, Hennigan was in court for breaching his order after “insulting a black Caribbean mother”. Jailing him for 18 months at Chelmsford Crown Court yesterday, the sassy judge said:

"Your offence is thoroughly unpleasant and repeated breaches of this order using the most unpleasant of language and causing distress. It’s said custody would be distressing for you but it seems you never learn. This is the ninth time you have breached this order, the same offensive, racist comments and you don’t deserve another chance."

Judge Patricia Lynch QC 1 — Defendant 0."

Yay for Judge Lynch! Judge Judy would be so proud of you.

Although there has been a lot of support for Judge Lynch, a judicial investigation has been launched after complaints were made about her comments. Let's hope common sense prevails and the investigation finds this no-nonsense Judge "not guilty" of any wrongdoing.

"I'm always disappointed when a liar's pants don't actually catch on fire..."

What a missed opportunity to call him a Fat Useless Cunt - I guess she was in a hurry with sentencing not to go into detail though

Quite apart from being locked up I wonder if he can be further punished by being sent to a gym every day and by being banned from KFC and McDonalds?

Horny_Holly replies on 8/29/2016 7:23 am:
Hahaha, I'm sure she was thinking it

Well, he certainly won't have access to fast food while he's locked up. He will, however, get a roof over his head, three meals a day and free TV as part of his punishment. Meanwhile, in the real world, the sick and the elderly are struggling to make ends meet, feed themselves, pay bills, worrying about sanctions, and live their lives crime-free.

Doesn't seem right, does it

Have a wonderful week, Matt!

What a brave man to spout that hate towards a woman and young children. Would he say it to a man as quick I wonder? Nah. Coward.

Good on the judge for speaking in a language he understands.

He probably spent a lot of time online, too. He seems "the type" to troll for the fun of it.

Ninth time he'd breached the order and he only got 18 months? What a joke. Scum like him never learn He's a waste of space.

Horny_Holly replies on 8/23/2016 9:57 am:
I know. I'm surprised he's been allowed to escape a custodial sentence for so long.

She's a hero for two reasons. Putting him away - finally. And putting him firmly in his place.

He has no respect for authority, himself or anyone else for that matter. It's just a pity he won't rot in prison for longer. The people of this country deserve better than being accosted in the street by scum like this guy.

I completely agree

I don't understand, you really cant be charged with anything for saying things like this to someone here, what law was he charged under?

Horny_Holly replies on 8/19/2016 5:06 pm:
I know your laws are different. I watched a few documentaries quite recently, actually, one which showed military veterans verbally abuse Muslims simply for being Muslims.

Thankfully, in this country we don't tolerate that kind of behaviour. Everyone has the right to walk down the street without being verbally abused, be it because of their sex, religion or race.

In this case, Hennigan had once again breached an anti-social behaviour order.

Below is a definition of anti-social behaviour from the Metropolitan Police website.

"Anti-social behaviour is defined as “Behaviour by a person which causes or is likely to cause harassment, alarm or distress to one or more persons not of the same household as the person”.
(Antisocial Behaviour Act 2003 & Police Reform and Social Responsibility Act 2011)."

I'm all for freedom of speech, but not at the expense of innocent people being harassed for no reason.

What was his sentence, and did the exchange affect it?

Smart as a horse and hung like Einstein.

Horny_Holly replies on 8/19/2016 3:38 pm:
Eighteen months according to the article above, and not to my knowledge. Her sentencing was probably decided before their exchange of words, so it shouldn't change anything. He'll probably only do nine months before he's released from prison.

Judge Lynch rocks. Her name should give her the right to lynch serial criminals like Hennigan. I read the story at the time and everyone I know is behind Judge Lynch on this one.

Horny_Holly replies on 8/19/2016 4:03 pm:
Yes, she does!

Yeah, I don't know anyone who doesn't approve and support what she said. No matter the outcome of the investigation, I doubt she regrets what she said to that sorry excuse for a human being.

He's a scumbag and she's a hero.

It's about time judges were allowed to speak their minds. Good for her

Yes he is, and yes she is!

I agree, Sarah. It's about time people like him were put in their place.
