Heart Held In Suspense A Poem

When will my heart reopen?
When will it see
The light of day?
It had to close itself
For a time
It had to hide itself away.

Just numb
Going through the motions.
Hoping tomorrow a glimmer
Will be revealed
In some new love interest.
Until then I am open
To friendships
I am not completely
Closed off.

I do have those
Pesky things
Called physical needs.
I can surely take
Matters into my own hands
And do that practically
Everyday.
But occasionally I find
I am willing to entertain
A partner for some action.
Knowing there is little chance
For love to advance.

So my heart might be considered
Held in suspense.
Until it finds the person
Who deserves reverence.
Let's hope by then
It has bounced back
As it has the opportunity
To show interest.
