Don't Waste My Time

Don't Waste My Time

Lately I've run into a spate of guys keeping me waiting. Like, for a long time. We make plans to meet at 3, and then at 2:30 it's "I'm not going to make it until 4:30" which then becomes 5.

When I say I'm going to meet someone I have to plan my schedule to make that meeting time possible. That means I have to rearrange the other things I need to do in my life at different times than I might have if I wasn't going to meet you. It means I have gone out of my way to carve out a piece of my time for you. It is completely disrespectful for you to treat me like it's just fine if I "sit tight" while you get your shit in order to keep up with the plans you made with me.

Even worse is the incremental time waster - first it's half an hour, then they need another half an hour, and so on an so forth.

We can all be 15 minutes late, half an hour late, that's not the issue - as long as you let me know before I leave my house and go sit somewhere waiting for you. But when it's an hour plus, you are showing disrespect. Just don't make plans you can't keep.

So rude. I can't imagine someone not showing up 20 minutes early at the opportunity to meet with you!

Good news is they vetted themselves so you don’t have to waste any more time. He has proven he is a loser.

That is very inconsiderate and disrespectful. Time is valuable to everyone and to have it wasted like that is says a lot.

When you talk (not text) to them by phone do you not get a sense that those guys are time wasters?

When the going gets weird, the weird turn pro.

The only thing we have to fear is fear itself.

15 min. late.... more traffic than planned
30 min late... got lost and too macho to ask for directions
60 min. late... having a panic attack
90 min. late... nothing he does makes him look anything like his picture
over two hours late... the wife is having him do some home projects
over three hours late.... why are you still waiting

me, i'm a breakfast kind of guy. so first meets i try to arrange in the am. after the courteous quarter hour wait i place my order, enjoy my breakfast and still get to leave satisfied, and never worry about them being a no show

there is a world of difference between insanity and stupidity

It happened to me some months ago here. We had set up a time to meet and a place too. First we were supposed to get a coffee in a pub at 3pm and then to my place to get down to business...
I waited for 1 hour without news from her whatsoever and decided to leave. She eventually sent me a message the day after apologizing because she was busy with her "main guy" haha. As if she couldn't warn me before I got out of my place anyway... the nerve of some people!

This is exactly why I've stopped meeting men for the first time as a standalone activity. When I start talking to someone new and a date and time is set, I base it on where I'm going to be and what I'm going to be doing and he has to fit into that timeframe. For example, I have a few errands to run near "the mall" so I propose a meet time and place that fits in with those errands and touch base as I set out. If it all goes as planned, I get stuff done AND take a nice little break to meet a fun fella. If he says he's running late, I have the prerogative to say "another time then," if he bails, I still got my errands done.

Yep.... I agree... 😊👍
Unless you've been hit by a bus... there really is NO good excuse. 🤔

That is just down right disrespectful. If you're running a bit late 15-20 I get it especially with DFW traffic. But over an hour that's it....no more

No one is ever late for their dick appointments. Or are they?
