I have my mother's and my grandmother's crystal. As soon as I can get my hutch moved where it belongs I am going to use the crystal and if it breaks- so be it. My sister and I both have the problem that none of the younger generation wants nor appreciates the way things used to be made. I also found a play doh tree ornament I made for my mother when I was about 5. She kept it in her jewelry box. I have it hanging in my kitchen using a new ribbon. And I have preserved some old black and white photos from a trip we took to NC on a train from Denver

Strange that we appreciate these types of things and our kids don't. When I was younger, I never had an appreciation for any of the items in my Grandparent's inventory. Perhaps it is an acquired taste? 🤔
Or times have changed. I haven't spent any portion of my life accumulating keepsakes... Except for my PC hard drive, which contains 50 gigs of music and photos and videos? Oh there's my movie collection as well...
Oh and my stainless steel cook ware and cast iron enamel crock pots and pans. Hmmm.. Does that count? 🤔
Maybe not.... 😶
Thanks for sharing your story... 😘

I have a few treasured items, they are treasured because of the memories. I don't know if there are any items that I would cry if I lost or broke...I might be quite sad about it, but not heartbroken.

The only thing that I'd really... really be upset at, is all of the family pictures, videos. That would hurt.
The other things I have... well... I'm like you. I might be upset about it, but not devastated.
Yeah.. those pictures I have.. I have all the old ones of my parents and grandparents.
