Hey Pa, what's for supper?

Well, the OL's off to Cali for a week. Just me and the dogs now.

I spend a fair amount of time on the Left Coast. What I have come to develop from being out there is a heightened awareness of what I eat. Health-consciousness is big out there.

Consequently, I don't do a lot of fried food. And I rarely do fast food of any kind. And if the establishment doesn't have a liquor license, I know lots of joints that do. I like beer.

So tonight, it's steamed broccoli, baked potato, and a Omaha Steak hamburger patty with a little gouda cheese on top.

And of course, a nice red. Regrettably not a woman, but a 2017 mid-coast Cali cabernet from the Hahn winery.

C'est tu

I forgot to mention the most California part of the meal...the avocado!

So, I'm left with those crappy wings from the place where the waitress took a shine to me. And I eagerly await her call, should it come. It could be worse...

Dinner for me will look substantially like last night unless someone, like a hungry chick, contacts me for a better deal. I won't hold my breath...

Avocado, potato, green beans, Krolzycks t-bone. And the other 1/2 of the Hahn cabernet.

I'm home alone for a week, buzz me for a good time!

C'est bon

Still home alone, so I'm not putting a lot of effort into dinner tonight. A little bit of the t-bone left, brussel sprouts, rice and a bottle of Frei Brothers "Sonoma Reserve" 2016 cabernet sauvignon.

And 60 Minutes. Wishing you were here...

Pinto beans slow-cooked with potatoes, jalapenos, onions, and deer sausage. And a delightful red. Regrettably, once again, not a wanton woman. A 2016 cabernet from The 75 Wine Company. C'est bon

The OL brought home a bag of spicy boiled shrimp head on in the shell with new potatoes. I opened a 2016 bottle of Patrick Ryan Rock Island Red. I have a partial loaf of ciabatta. Just need something green...

So, I'm home alone again tonight. All the women in the area and I can't find anyone interested in my efforts.

From a chicks point, I can see how you would want to be very careful about who you were cattin' around with. Be geez, I just want to have lunch. You will almost immediately recognize me as a genuine individual, and that I am who I say i am in my profile.

As for dinner, roasted salted peanuts in the shell for an appetizer. Asian Kit bag-o salad. Skewered sausage, onions, bell peppers, and new potatoes on the barby. And a 2014 Bourdeaux De Courteillac.

Wishing you were here...

Iff'n I was looking for a guy, they'd be falling on me so thick I'd have to beat them off with a stick.

Home alone again. So I went to Chepe's instead of my usual meat market, I kept pointing to the sign that said bone in ribeye, but I got what appears to be flank steak. 3 large slabs for $11 and change.

The first one I cooked too fast and it was tough. The second one I cooked 15 mins on low in a skillet , then flipped the flank steak over, and killed the heat by adding ranch style beans out of the can. Then simmer another 15 minutes or for as long as you can stand it not to dig in. I add jalapenos and spiracha...

And of course, an avocado half and a handful of walnuts for openers...

And not to forget a beautiful red. 2016 Goldbelly Cab Central Coast Livermore Valley.

When you get here, I will treat you as my queen.

So, I was Marie Kondo before Marie Kondo was cool... As part of that great intergenerational transfer of wealth from the Greatest Generation to us Baby Boomers, we got the accumulations of those kin that come before us. Some of it wealth and property. Some of it furniture, bedding, and bric-a-brac.

So as I sorted through the various cubby holes of our limited lifestyle I found several bottles of red wine of questionable lineage which I dispatched with prejudice and at low consumption. They are gone now.

Tonight's supper is a garlic-plugged rubbed pork tenderloin in the copper skillet with just a smidge of Texana Sriracha olive oil. The greens will be from the freezer cause we had fresh cabbage the last 3 nights in a row. I like cabbage. And Brussel sprouts. And garlic bread perhaps...

And now that we are shed of that cheap nasty stuff, we rejoice. Tonight is Goldbelly 2015 Central Coast Livermore Valley. It gots a lotsa leg...

Call me for lunch!

Ah my favorite blog, as it most accurately portrays my meager existence. Home alone again tonight without a woman in sight. Oh, were I only queer...

Und zo it's crockpot navy beans with FFA pig soup bones, onions, Tony Chachere, and a little beer...

As for greens, I'm od'd. I asked the missus to get greens the night before but failed to check the reefer before I went shopping the next day so we're doubled-up on Brussell sprouts, Asian Bago-o, cabbage, broccoli crowns and some other leafy green, kale maybe...steamed as required.

And the red. Brutocao 2015 Cabernet Sauvignon Hopland Ranches. C'est la vie

I'm in charge here...Looks like ground chuck browned in fatback and mixed into a two-step spicy mix from Cookwell & Company. Should need no additional seasoning...

Steamed veggies- green beans, a few broccoli tops, and a cabbage wedge. And toasted Jewish rye. And, the best part, a 2016 Charles Krug Napa Valley cabernet. Now, for the rest of the story...

The first real girl I had before I fucked up and got married was partial to Charles Krug. I was working 3wks on/3wks off offshore Santa Barbara Channel early 1980's. She was a Left Coast blond, recently divorced, driving an Audi, living in Tracy, and looking to snag a new man while she still had it going on.

I being inexperienced, inept, and frequently inebriated, fell for her. I don't remember her as being into sex all that much, oral either, but I have no unpleasant memories.... She came to see me down here, and I remember we spent a weekend at my uncle's Galveston beach house, and she bled all over the bedsheets.

I was super-naive when she started having "woman problems" . She was down here when I took her to some county hospital where the doctor did a "dnc". I had no idea what that meant. Well. it wasn't long after that that she stole a script of Amytriptiline from her momma tried to overdose kill herself out here at the farm. In my late 70's casa moviles... We took her to Tomball Memorial. Her kinfolk came and fetched her and took her back to the Land of Fruits and Nuts. And I never heared from her again...

And the moral of the story is...you gotta know your limitations.

Eyetalian sausage sauteed in the skillet with onions and mushrooms. Steamed green beans, Brussels sprouts, and a wedge of cabbage. Jewish rye...toasted. And a bottle of Roth cab 2016. .

It's a shame you're not here. I'd break out the Charles Krug....c'est tu

Last post, nobody (ie hip chicks) seem to give a fuck about my wine selections.

Tonight, the Old Lady has hauled ass to be with her sexless sister and mother. So it's a Krolczyk's ribeye, steamed green beans and cabbage. A 2016 Rodney strong cab completes the repast. The Astros play later...

The only thing missing is you.
