There are issues with the IM, but I am not clear what is causing them. In the first instance I think it probably works best if you are accessing the service from a PC, rather than the phone App.

If using a PC, one’s presence online is not initially always visible to others, and appears to take time to stabilise. Once a connection is made, communication can freeze with no warning, so if after an initial exchange of text, no progress is made, close the IM window, exit from the service, log back on, and re-page the profile with which you wish to communicate.

Otherwise, give up, make a cup of tea, and sit down to write an email providing an alternative form of communication!

 Yeah it sucks. I use kik. Try to let the person know somehow what my kik name is so if they have it they can reach me there. Also if they are gold and can look at your profile you can set up a blog for private mail where only you will see what's posted in it
