♣ How To Bathe In A Japanese Style Deep Soaking Tub - Ofuro

The bathing that I am subscribing to is social.

To the Hotel Kabuki, you bring a partner, or a professional masseur or masseuse.

One must prepare for the bath by showering first. The Hotel supplies the guest with seaweed soap. Wash the entire body with the soap and washcloth. It is important that the body is well scrubbed with a washcloth. You can also shampoo at this time as well. The shower is located next to the soaking tub for your convenience and there is the use of a red hot lamp for more steam and warmth.

You are now ready to get into the Japanese bathtub.

Your partner, prepares the Ofuro, the Japanese bathtub with hot water. Salts with perfumes or herbs or minerals may be deposited at this time. DO NOT use any type of soap or oils.

The bath preparer may delight in wearing a Yukata, a cotton kimono. It's more fun...and they can be purchased in the many kimono stores in the Japan Town Mall. Hotel Kabuki has 2 kimono for their guests that are silk and terry cloth padded, but they are ugly.

So don't forget to get your yukata BEFORE you start your bathing.

You also might want to purchase fruit to eat in the bathtub, and items to drink. There is a Japanese supermarket within a block of the hotel. They sell White Peaches, which are exquisite in aroma and flavor, bing cherries, strawberries, grapes. Immediately take them to the hotel and prepare them by washing them and quickly chilling them in the hotel's room refrigerator.

The Hotel Kabuki has cold sake and Japanese/American beers, and champagne in these refrigerators, or you can buy them in the Japanese grocery store at a better price.

It's a lovely experience soaking in a Japanese Soaking Tub when you have chilled fruit and spirits served by your partner!

I especially delight in the White Peaches that are chilled. They can be quite messy to eat. So eating chilled White Peaches in the hot soaking tub is sensual experience!

Your partner may want beer, wine, champagne or sake in the hot soaking tub. Use the coffee mugs, as glass in the soaking tub /shower is quite dangerous. You could sit with your partner and join in the drinking and eating of chilled fruit. What Bliss!

The bathtub is not big enough for two. It is deep , water going up to the shoulders, but not long.

I like soaking for a very long time. Talking and eating chilled fruit and drinking chilled sake makes the time go too fast.

When you decided to stop soaking, get out and rinse from the shower next to you, and have your partner dry you off with their lovely towels!

You most certainly will want to continue into the living room or bedroom for a much desired massage

♣ Spa Weekend in JapanTown, San Francisco

Japantown, San Francisco

Hotel Kabuki
1625 Post Street, San Francisco, CA 94115,

Another Spa Weekend

Hotel Kabuki is a premier Japanese-style hotel in San Francisco with a western touch. With its prime Japantown location and unique blend of Eastern and Western influences, Hotel Kabuki offers a calm and serene ambiance.

Recently renovated in 2007, the new decor elegantly balances the refined beauty of the East and West. Guests will experience a sense of place that reflects both historic and worldly Japantown as well as the pulse of San Francisco.

Izakaya Lounge serves Japanese inspired shared plates and cocktails is located adjacent to the lobby. I enjoy eating cold noodles and watching sports on their fine television screens.. I love the Japanese BaseBall Decor.

Take a deep breath, relax and refresh, with the Hotel Kabuki signature bath program. Choose between the experience of the Kabuki Springs & Spa communal bath, a relaxing self-drawn bath, or make an appointment with the bath butler, or bring your own masseuse/masseur.

Guestroom Amenities:

*All rooms non-smoking
*Executive suites with dry saunas
*Serene Japanese gardens and Koi pond adjacent to lobby.
*New Serta Concierge bedding throughout
*New luxury linens
*Traditional Japanese-style deep soaking tubs in most rooms
*In-Room Dining from 6am-11pm
*Club floor rooms with complimentary continental breakfast
*Wireless high-speed internet in all rooms and public areas
*Refrigerator in all rooms
*Asian kettle for coffee or tea
*26-inch LCD flat screen televisions
*Cable television with on-demand movies
*In-room laptop safes
*Iron and ironing board
*Hair dryers
*iPod and MP3 docking station and radio
*Silk Terry Cloth Bathrobes in all rooms
*Honor bar with food, beverage, and office items

The Executive Suite is my favorite for it's value. It's a large suite, with 2 televisions, one in the living room and another in the bedroom. These particular Suites have a traditional Japanese large sunken bathtub, with stool, and bucket, complete with aromatic salts. The Suite also has a sauna. It's a thorough bathing experience.

It's always better to bring your own massseuse or masseur, and have a private soaking bath and massage, than to go 2 blocks further into the Japan Town to the Kabuki Baths. It might even be less expensive. It's so much more fun to drink chilled fruit and sake while soaking!

I felt as if I got on an airplane and went to Tokyo. This hotel is an oasis in the City, and it is very reasonably priced.

Travel is fatal to prejudice, bigotry,
and narrow-mindedness, and many of our
people need it sorely on these accounts.
Broad, wholesome, charitable views of men
and things cannot be acquired by vegetating
in one little corner of the earth all one's lifetime."

♣ A WeekEnd GetAway ...One Of Many

A lovely weekend get away, one of many, is in the Napa Valley, outside of San Francisco.

Every square inch of land has been purchased and vineyards are growing.

It is clear that there is an glut of grapes.

There are rows and rows of the vine and it is very green.

The temperatures are very hot, and there is some elevated humidity because of the irrigation.

I enjoyed the abundance of expensive and some inexpensive dining experiences. One can spend $200.00 for a memorable eating experience, or one can go to the lovely , lovely Deli, Oakville Grocery Store in Yountville and dine alfresco.

The Valley seems to have exploded, and the demand is great for visiting, Spas, Dining and Wine Tasting.

It is more expensive than ever to stay in the Napa Valley.

I was able to stay for the weekend without a reservation at the Meadowood Country Club, in St. Helena, at Country Club prices.

I especially enjoyed swimming in their olympic sized pool, in the evening, when the days are so hot.

♣ G r e a t Places To Meet For F u n & Relaxation

Favorite places to meet, could be fine dining areas and Jacuzzi/Hot Tubs.

I enjoy fine light dining as a meeting place. This can be a formal, or informal atmosphere.

I like Asian dining, Japanese Food, Thai, Chinese. Some is fine dining and some are casual.

San Francisco has so many, that it is impossible for me to list them all, but believe me, I know them all.

As for perhaps after light dining, we could go for bathing at the HotTubs, or bath house for jacuzzi/bath/massage.

Of course, we must wait a bit after the light dining . It is not comfortable to be in a hot tub or get a massage when the stomach is full.

One such place that I enjoy in San Francisco is THE HOT TUBS 2200 Van Ness Avenue .

It is inexpensive and private & immaculate. Opens at 11AM and closes midnight.

The water in the jacuzzi's is clean, there is a dry sauna, music, showers, music and refreshments. It's lovely and private.

We would need to wait at least an hour, if not 3, after dining to take up the Baths.
